ARD Aktuell Downlink Station
In 1999, SatService delivered this turnkey project to the ARD in Hamburg.
The 3.7m central station is primarily designed as a contribution station
for SNG vehicles and to receive transmissions from other stationary ground
stations. The design allows to retrofit it later on with transmission
equipment, giving full uplink capability.
The earth station consists of
- 3.7m motorized Antenna System
- 2 analog TV Receivers (expandable)
- 2 digital IRD/Receivers (expandable)
- Task-oriented Client/Server Software Architecture
- Fully remote capability
The current configuration allows reception in parallel on both polarization
and in different frequency bands. Due to the distance between antenna
and indoor equipment, the signals are feeded via a fiber optical link to
the indoor distribution system.
